Professional Cleanings

Twice-yearly professional cleanings are an important part of a healthy oral hygiene routine.

Ramon Bana, DDS aims to intercept oral health concerns in the earliest stages, allowing for more therapeutic treatment solutions. The semiannual hygiene visit includes oral cancer screening and assessment for larger potential issues such as gum disease and TMJ. Fluoride treatment can be part of the mix, and x-rays will also be taken as necessary.

PREVENTIVE CHECKUP CHECKLIST

  • Thorough exams
  • Oral cancer screenings
  • Evaluation for gum disease & TMJ
  • Fluoride treatments
  • Diagnostic x-rays]

Gum Disease Treatment

Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support the teeth and is a major cause of tooth loss in adults.

Gum disease can be controlled by professional cleaning and good oral hygiene in its earlier stages, but advanced gum disease (periodontitis) can lead to bone, tissue, and tooth loss. Untreated periodontitis has also been linked to more than 50 systemic medical conditions, including stroke, heart attack, and diabetes. Dr. Bana offers two methods of gum disease treatment.

SCALING & ROOT PLANING

Deep cleaning that removes tartar & plaque buildup.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral cancer is one of the fastest-growing cancers worldwide, and Dr. Ramon Bana is committed to early detection for our patients’ optimal chances of diagnosis and survival.

Every adult routine hygiene visit includes an oral cancer screening to check for any signs or symptoms, and our team will discuss your risk factors and any other concerns you may have with you. Let’s all fight oral cancer together!

Mouthguards

Over 2 million teeth are knocked out each year during sports play.

Mouthguards help minimize impacts to the face, reducing the risk of broken teeth and injuries to the lips, tongue, face, jaw, and cheek lining. Some studies show custom-fit protective mouthguards may even lessen the aftereffects of a concussion. Protect your athlete’s gorgeous grin and ask us about a mouthguard today.

NIGHTGUARDS

Custom-fit nightguards help alleviate the effects of teeth grinding and clenching. Dr. Bana can help save your teeth and lessen headaches and jaw pain with a custom-fit nightguard.

IAOMT-Compliant Mercury Filling Removal

If you have an old metal amalgam filling that needs replacement, Dr. Bana performs safe mercury filling removal here at Miami Sedation and Cosmetic Dentistry.

There is no need to remove a metal filling in good condition, but if you have one that breaks, leaks, or is otherwise failing, we can remove it safely and replace it with a beautiful tooth-colored restoration.

WHAT DOES IAOMT-COMPLIANT MEAN?

The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) protects public health and the environment with their research of the biocompatibility of dental products. Dr. Bana follows certain safety protocols to keep mercury filling removal IAOMT-compliant in our office.

Sealants

Dental sealant is a thin, protective coating that adheres to the chewing surface of teeth and is particularly effective in preventing decay in the back molars.

Oral hygiene due diligence is still a must, but an added measure to stop decay in its tracks can’t be a bad thing! Sealants often last several years and may even be covered by your insurance. They can be applied in one office visit. Some descriptions invite you to think of sealants as “raincoats for your teeth”.
